Abstract

Exploring Sharr (evil) in the context of extremism with a broader global perspective in the ongoing 21st century is a significant research area in both social sciences and Islamic studies. The area has been the subject of extensive writing so far. However, observing extremism as Sharr by assessing the impacts in terms of a global setting is a gap to be explored reasonably and logically. This way, the dynamics of the study include literature review, Sharr-focused stances, and Muslims’ perspectives about extremism, the Western standpoint, the global community's observations and the global impacts of the Sharr-driven extremism. The findings determine that the Sharr (evil) of extremism in the 21st century will affect the world if a broad-based mechanism is not followed to counter this negative development. Both analytical and descriptive methodologies are pursued to give a reasoned completion to this area of research.
