EXPLORING NEW EDUCATIONAL DIMENSIONS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF PAKISTAN'S EDUCATION SYSTEM: AN ANALYTICAL STUDY
Abstract
It is an undeniable fact that Islam places a significant emphasis on education, arguably more so than many other religions. However, even in contemporary times, when we compare the progress of the Muslim world to that of developed countries, it becomes painfully clear that we, as Muslims, are not merely lagging behind but are substantially trailing. Our inability to advance scientific knowledge at a pace commensurate with our historical legacy is evident. While we once sought to understand and expand our knowledge of the universe, today, we appear to have fallen far behind in this endeavor. This issue is particularly pronounced in Pakistan, where our education system largely adheres to traditional teaching methods. To comprehend this discrepancy, we must delve into the historical journey of Islamic contributions to knowledge and skills. What becomes evident is that while Muslims made substantial early contributions, these efforts often lacked continuity. This inconsistency resulted in the initiation of significant scientific endeavors by Muslims, but the culmination of these endeavors was achieved by Western societies. As we observe the West's continued dominance in scientific exploration, it's evident that Muslims, including Pakistanis, have yet to regain their once-prominent position in the global academic arena. This raises critical questions: What are the root causes of this disparity? What does our historical legacy reveal about our past achievements and challenges? And, most importantly, how can we improve our education system to bridge this gap? In light of these questions, it becomes imperative to engage in rigorous scientific discussions and entrust this vital task to scholars and experts.
