Mental and Physical Effects on Children (In The Context of Spouse Separation)

Abstract

The effects of psychosocial function on children in the context of spouse separation of parents are a major problem in our society.  Children whose parents divorced in their childhood or adolescence were likely to be afflicted with emotional problems such as depression or anxiety well into their twenties or early thirties. They are more socially withdrawn and as a result, they feel lonelier not only right after the divorce but also 6 years later. It has been noted by clinicians and Therapists that children caught in the middle of the parent’s animosity during separation or divorce proceedings have attention and concentration problems, anger problems, and sleep disorders. There is a need to take steps to prevent divorce at the community and government levels.
